If a clause that would be affected by a clause update is added to a base document before running the clause update, after the update is run the validation warning “A newer version of Clause XXXX is available” appears.

However, if the document is released and modified without updating the clauses, the validation warning does not appear when running validations. This is because the warning only appears for included clauses on the current version of the document. If there are no new clauses on the modification, then the warning will not appear.

Note: To determine if a clause is on the current version of a document, users can navigate to the Clauses tab of the current version of the document and make sure that the View on the "Summary" panel is set to "Current Version". This will clause the page to display all clauses that exist on the current document version.
